Teach one student at a time. Shape a career, a business, or a field.
At Elton University, you won't lecture to a room of 100 students. You will sit down (virtually) with one learner who wants to master what you know. Together you will design a personalized plan, work in two-week Sprints, and produce real work: a portfolio, a business, a publication, a product.
We built Elton on the last 40 years of learning science and on Montessori's principle of one learner, one teacher. Research shows 1-on-1 tutoring is the most effective way to learn. We are making it affordable and available to anyone.
What you will do
- Meet 1-on-1 or in small groups with students whose goals match your expertise
- Co-design personalized learning plans and two-week Sprints with each student
- Teach through real-world projects, primary sources, and professional practice
- Give frequent, specific feedback and assess mastery through portfolios and published work
- Partner with the student's coach to keep them motivated and on track
- Mentor doctoral candidates toward publication (if you hold a doctorate)
You might be a fit if you
- Hold a master's or doctorate, or bring equivalent professional mastery in your field
- Have taught, mentored, or managed people, formally or informally
- Love explaining ideas and helping others find their own questions
- Want to teach on your own schedule, from anywhere
- Believe a student's interests and goals drive the best learning
How it works
- Elton matches you with students when their interests fit your expertise. You choose how many students to take.
- Choose paid hourly work or volunteer teaching.
- We train every professor in the Elton way: tutoring techniques, mastery-based pacing, and student-led learning.
- Work remotely using Slack, Zoom, Notion, and email.
